Ceremony and Reception

Our wedding ceremony and reception will be held on June 22, 2013, at the American Visionary Art Museum (AVAM) in Baltimore, Maryland.  The ceremony will be followed immediately by cocktails, dinner, and dancing.  The museum will be open to our guests during the cocktail hour, so we hope you take a moment to peek inside!

Ceremony:

The wedding ceremony will take place at six o’clock in the evening and, weather permitting, will be held in AVAM’s wildflower garden.  The Honorable David D. Noce of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri will officiate.

Reception:

Following a cocktail hour in the wildflower garden, the reception will be held in AVAM’s Tall Sculpture Barn, formerly the Four Roses whiskey warehouse.  Our caterer will provide a fixed dinner menu, paying tribute to our bay and bayou heritages.  There will be vegetarian options aplenty, but please let us know if you have other dietary restrictions so that we can accommodate your needs.

About AVAM:

AVAM is an art museum located in Baltimore’s Federal Hill neighborhood that, as its name suggests, specializes in the display of visionary art—that is, “art produced by self-taught individuals . . . whose works arise from an innate personal vision that revels foremost in the creative act itself.”  The museum has been designated by the U.S. Congress as America’s national museum for self-taught artistry and includes both a permanent collection and an annual, guest-curated exhibition.  This year’s themed exhibition, running from October 2012 until September 2013, is “The Art of Storytelling:  Lies, Enchantment, Humor & Truth.”

Throughout its existence, AVAM has worked toward the betterment of the Baltimore community.  For example, the mosaic walls forming AVAM’s exterior were created by at-risk and incarcerated youth through a museum apprenticeship program.

We are delighted to support AVAM’s mission and hope you enjoy the museum’s wonderfully eclectic displays!
